Moonlight

As the Sun lights up the sky during the day, the Moon reflects at night, guiding us to safety during our darkest moments, giving us hope and comfort as she reminds us there is always a new dawn and the Sun will always return.

In times of darkness, I allow myself to dive deeply into the depths of the macabre, to allow Kali to slice away at what is expected behaviour, of what is good and what is nice, what is comfortable and what is permitted within our shallow conditioned minds that know nothing of the depths of the soul. We can be filled with an expression of happiness and joy one moment and then our soul will express itself in another way. When we allow ourselves to plummet to the depths of the ocean and allow whatever needs to surface to arise, we are truly expressing who we are. The Moon reminds us we are safe, she will always hold us as we allow all to flow, she allows us to create, to release and to howl if we need to. 

In moments of trauma, of pain, of suffering we may try to hide and escape and hide how we are feeling. We can become overwhelmed by the darkness but the Moon reminds us we can never come to any harm, we are always safe and we are always held.

Poetry is the language of the soul. It has no rules or limitations, it just is. It goes way beyond expectation when allowed to flow freely. It drifts and circles and rises and caresses the cheek of all it touches. There may be moments in Poetry that seem uncomfortable but also may be relatable, that touch the soul of those who read the words knowing that it is fine to feel, that it is safe to express, that it is allowed and that it is part of our experience while we walk on this beautiful earth.
