A Pocket Book of Haiku
Haiku carries the solidity of structure holding space for the soul to freely express, with the masculine quality of strength supporting the feminine qualities of creativity and expression. It is balanced in its simplicity. It is strong, it is powerful and it is wise. We can create anything but we need strong foundations, firstly in ourselves and this will then ripple to all around us. With a strong foundation we feel safe to play, create and allow our true nature to flow freely. Within the Haiku you are free and you are held.
Haiku is a simple form of expression that sums up all we need to say without verbiage. Commonly with nature observation, it communicates the simplicity nature has to offer; like a survival guide to living on earth. Written in a simple form of 5 syllables, 7 syllables and then 5 syllables, it creates a natural rhythm that flows creating a song bringing the words to life.
In Japan the Haiku is quite often symbolised with cherry blossom showing our immortality and the importance of being totally present in each moment. Life is fleeting and we see this by observing nature. The cherry blossom only has a lifespan of two weeks and in this time the Japanese practice Hanami (cherry blossom viewing) being a practice of mindfulness and gratitude.
This book is written with this principle in mind by witnessing the beauty that exists within stillness and that life is fleeting so each moment is precious. It is written in meditation, being mindful of nature and in a fully present state of being.
